About

Hi, I’m Dani.

I live in Australia with my loving husband, our small delightful spawn, and our two deviously cute felines.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my mid‑30s after decades of puzzling mental‑health challenges, and I’ve recently received an Autism diagnosis. These revelations set me on an eye‑opening journey of self‑discovery; stitching together pieces of myself that had never quite fit. Gradually I found self‑compassion, and developed an insatiable need to learn, advocate, and raise awareness.

The Whimsical Divergent is my written sanctuary - a place where I can paint a mental picture of my lived experience and step back, reframe, and refocus. I share my neurodivergent story of my successes and failures, my hard‑won and ongoing learnings, and I’ve included curated resources and analytical thought-pieces for readers to engage with.

I hope that others might recognise something familiar in my writing journey and find comfort, practical support, or perhaps most importantly - validation.
